Re: Public education devastated by California budget cuts

In Kevin Martinez's editorial on 6/5/2009 provided by wsws.com
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2009/jun2009/cali-j05.shtml

He explains that while the government is making all these cuts they the are going against their idea of capitalism
And how they are more worried on systems other than schools
How they gave a tax break to business's but cut $15 billion out of school funding

"Within the framework of the capitalist system, this “balance” means the impoverishment of the American working class and the dismantling of public education. The war that is being waged against public education and what little remains of the state infrastructure in California is one of the most glaring example of the failure of capitalism."-Martinez-

Noreen Davis, a Democrat from Santa Rosa quotes
“I feel their pain. I share their pain. I share all their concerns. The challenge is, how do we balance the collapse of the world economy with continuing to educate our children?”

But in reality she most likely does not know what teachers, students, and parents are really going through
It does not make sense that the people that cannot relate to problems or are affected by them have the authority to decide how they will be handled.
