As I researched I came along an editorial that talked about California’s education crisis. According to the editorial "Racism and the Crisis of Urban Education"
[http://www.dsausa.org/antiracism/editorials/editorials.html] it is mentioned how communities in urban locations are usually the ones that are in poverty and because of that they more than often receive a lower education. Inequality is big issue and in this editorial it is thoroughly explained and is proved through statistics of the number of student that are colored vs. the number of students that are white have a better education. Inequality is still an issue today. This issue is not a general education crisis but instead is an issue target through the minorities. Racism is also mentioned as the primary source of inequality and the education crisis. The author in this editorial makes strong points. The author’s overall message that racism is the overall root of California's education crisis and possibly all over the United States. This argument is very strong because he shows real statistics of how many people are barley above the poverty line and those that are under and how that affects how many people are actually getting the education they deserve. The author suggest things that can be done such as actually "fighting the system with in" by instead of segregating schools through economics stands but unite everyone so all the "rich" kids with the middle class and with the "poor" kids would all go to the same school and everyone would evidently receive the same education however this can not be the case because this is not a fairy world where everything that can happen instantly. This would a good way to end the education crisis. Ending this issue in this manner could be affective in the long run but the amount of time it would take wouldn’t be as ineffective. The author quotes Frederick Douglas (1849) about progression. He references to this quote to just show that we needed to progress back then and we still should continue to progress towards bigger issue such as California's education crisis. California's education issue is something that everyone should push towards because it not only affects student and children now but it affects their future. Whether students/children will be able to get a good job or end up being accepted to go work as a janitor at their old high school. In someway this is dehumanizing because you take always someone’s right to learn. This article talks about how inequality is affecting the human race. But not only is inequality read through out but he emphasizes how inequality brings in the inadequate equipment required to have a successful day to learn and how a lot of public schools are over seen because they believe the majority will drop out anyways and money shouldn't be spent on students that wont take their education that is given to them seriously.
